Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that special quotas would be allocated in TOKİ's social housing projects for young people who benefit from marriage loans. Göktaş said young people who use the loan would also be given priority at İŞKUR.
As part of her engagements in Diyarbakır, Göktaş met with families of martyrs and veterans at the "Terror-Free Türkiye Brotherhood Table Gathering" held at the Police Guesthouse. After the event, which was closed to the press, she attended a training program for couples who benefit from marriage loans at the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
Marriage loans expanded nationwide in 2025
Minister Göktaş said the state stood by young people embarking on marriage, adding that pre-marriage education programs prepared them for life and guided them in building strong families.
Göktaş said the Family and Youth Fund had been launched under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and that the marriage loan scheme, which began in the earthquake-affected region in 2024, was expanded nationwide in 2025. In the scheme's first year, approximately 5,000 young people in the earthquake-affected region benefited from the loans.
210,000 young people have benefited from the loans
Göktaş said a total of 210,000 young people, including 7,166 in Diyarbakır, had benefited from the scheme so far. She announced that the loan had a four-year term, including a two-year repayment-free period.
According to information provided by Göktaş, young people aged 18 to 25 receive interest-free loans of 250,000 lira, while those aged 26 to 29 receive 200,000 lira. Loan repayments are postponed for 12 months if the beneficiary has a child; if the beneficiary has two children, the loan is converted entirely into a grant.
Göktaş said more than 1,000 babies had been born in Diyarbakır alone in this context, adding that support for young families and couples with children would continue.
Dowry discount agreements also reached
Göktaş said dowry discount agreements had been reached with 2,046 companies nationwide for beneficiaries of the Family and Youth Fund. Reiterating that young people who use marriage loans are given priority at İŞKUR, Göktaş announced that the special quota scheme would also be introduced in TOKİ's social housing projects.
Minister Göktaş said they provided guidance and counseling services to young people benefiting from the scheme and would continue meeting couples through online programs after their wedding ceremonies.
