Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum announced that the Half Is on Us campaign, which supports urban transformation efforts in Istanbul, has been extended by one year. The campaign's new deadline has been set as December 31, 2027.
Kurum said support would continue for citizens throughout the process of transforming their homes. He noted that the campaign had been announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
435,683 independent units included in the transformation program
So far, 435,683 independent units in Istanbul have been included in the urban transformation program under the campaign. The transformation of 108,881 of these units has been completed.
More than 500,000 additional homes are expected to be included in the campaign by the end of this year.
Support of 1.875 million lira for homes
Under the campaign, which took effect with a Presidential Decree on February 22, 2024, eligible rights holders who want to have their homes rebuilt receive an 875,000-lira grant, an 875,000-lira loan and 125,000 lira in relocation support. The total support for homes thus reaches 1.875 million lira.
Support for shops and workplaces
For one shop or workplace belonging to an eligible rights holder, a 437,500-lira grant, a 437,500-lira loan and 125,000 lira in relocation support are provided. For each additional shop belonging to the rights holder, a loan of 875,000 lira is offered.
Area-based transformation model
In large-scale, site-like area-based transformation projects, TOKİ or Emlak Konut undertakes the construction. Under this model, each rights holder receives an 875,000-lira grant and 125,000 lira in relocation support.
The grant amount is deducted from the construction cost of the building. The remaining debt is paid in installments over the long term under favorable payment conditions.
