Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made important statements regarding Turkey's new targets in satellite technologies. Minister Uraloğlu stated that TÜRKSAT now has 6 active communication satellites serving in high orbit, including Türksat 6A, which was developed entirely by Turkish engineers.
Uraloğlu stated that TÜRKSAT operates in three strategic areas: satellite, cable, and digital transformation, and emphasized that the institution plays a critical role in both protecting rights in space and building Turkey's digital infrastructure.

Aiming for the top 10
Stating that it is of great importance for Turkey to have a presence in the strategic satellite sector, Uraloğlu said, "Our goal is to be in the top 10 in the world in every field." He pointed out that they serve a vast geography stretching from East Asia to Western Europe, covering two-thirds of the world's population.

Noting that orbital rights in space are like a title deed for countries, Uraloğlu said that new investments must be made for satellites, which are systems with a limited lifespan.
Türksat 7A to enter service in 2030
Minister Uraloğlu announced that the process has been initiated for the new generation Türksat 7A Project. "We plan to produce our satellite entirely with domestic and national resources, with the power of the Turkish space industry," Uraloğlu said, noting that the satellite, whose work is planned to begin by the end of the year, is targeted to enter service in 2030.
The protocol covering the financing support for Türksat 7A was signed between TÜRKSAT and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure's Transport, Maritime and Communication Research Center Presidency on June 19, 2025. The protocol set the framework for the support to be provided by the Ministry regarding the satellite's construction process.
