The National Intelligence Organization (MIT) captured Talip Güler, a senior figure of the terrorist group ISIS, in an operation abroad. Güler, who used the code name 'Abdüsselam Türki', was wanted with a yellow notice.
According to information obtained from security sources, Talip Güler is the brother of Kasım Güler, who was the so-called 'Turkey Province' emir of ISIS and was captured in Syria in 2021 and brought to Turkey. Kasım Güler was wanted with a red notice.
As part of the investigation, it was determined that Talip Güler illegally entered Syria in January 2014 and carried out coordinated activities there with ISIS leaders, including his older brother Kasım Güler. After Kasım Güler's capture, MIT tracked down Talip Güler and facilitated his transfer from conflict zones to Turkey.
It was stated that Talip Güler confessed in his statement to the activities he carried out on behalf of the organization. No information was provided about the time and location of the operation.
It was emphasized that MIT continues its efforts to thwart ISIS's plans targeting Turkey, expose the organization's recruitment methods, and foil attack attempts.
