National athlete Yıldız, who began combat sports at the age of 6 in Seydişehir, became the world runner-up at the Under-24 World Muaythai Championship through training without a coach.
Yıldız began combat sports at the direction of his father, who worked at a gym, and won his first Turkish championship at the age of 13. The athlete joined the national team a year later and took the first step in an international career by representing Türkiye at the European Championship.
Prepares his own training program
Yıldız continues training with Seydişehir Municipality Sports Club and prepares his own training program. Continuing his conditioning and technical work with his own resources, the athlete maintains his discipline in competitions without a coach.
Yıldız reached the final of the Under-24 World Muaythai Championship held in Kosovo but finished second after missing out on the title because of an injury. The athlete aims to win a gold medal at the next tournament.
Describing his daily training routine, Yıldız said he gets up at 6:00 a.m. every morning and runs 6-7 kilometers, then rests and follows his nutrition program. The athlete does strength training in the afternoon and continues technical and tactical work during evening training.
Gradually adapted to training without a coach
Yıldız said he initially struggled to adapt to training without a coach and was injured because of incorrect workouts. The athlete said he gradually became accustomed to preparing and following his own program and continued making progress while maintaining his discipline.
Yıldız said he writes the program that his coach would normally prepare, adding that his friends also support and motivate him during training.
Received the greatest support from his mother
Yıldız said his mother’s support had been important to his success, explaining that she called to encourage him when he lost and was at least as happy as he was when he won.
Yıldız said that although his mother did not want him to get injured, she still sent him to training, adding that she prepared his match and training clothes and followed all his competitions.
Yıldız said children around him also wanted to train with him and that his friends and their siblings had begun taking an interest in the sport.
