After an approximately 10-day historic journey around the Moon as part of the Artemis II mission, astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen made a safe landing in the Pacific Ocean. The US Navy medical team opened the module hatch of the Orion spacecraft to welcome the astronauts. In the newly released video, moments of the medical team opening the module hatch and greeting the astronauts are seen. The astronauts were taken aboard the USS John P. Murtha for post-landing health checks. The Orion spacecraft traveled approximately 252,000 miles during the mission. The mission was recorded as one of humanity's farthest journeys from Earth. In the next stages of the Artemis program, the Artemis III mission is planned to attempt a landing in lunar orbit in 2025, and the Artemis IV mission aims to land on the Moon in 2028.
