A new development occurred in the Dorukhan Büyükışık case, who was found dead at a construction site in the Narlıdere district of İzmir on May 13, 2018. A.K., one of the suspects with an arrest warrant and reported to be abroad, was caught when he arrived at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport.
A.K., who served as the crime scene investigation team commissioner at the time of the incident, was detained by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams. Thus, one more suspect wanted in the investigation was caught.
The file was reopened years later
Dorukhan Büyükışık was found lifeless at a construction site in Narlıdere in 2018, and the incident was initially evaluated as a suicide. However, after complaints made by the family, the file was reshaped based on different accusations.
Upon the family's application, the indictment prepared against the police officers who went to the scene on charges of abuse of duty was accepted by the 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. In the same process, an indictment demanding life imprisonment on charges of intentional killing was prepared against the guards H.K., H.A., and T.Ç., who were on duty at the construction site, as well as B.Ç., who worked in construction, and A.G., who served as a guard near the construction site.
Case files were merged
On October 10, 2025, the case files of 8 police officers prosecuted on charges of abuse of duty and the trial of 5 construction workers at the İzmir 21st High Criminal Court were merged. Thus, the investigation and trial process was consolidated into a single line.
A special investigation team of 4 people, established under the chairmanship of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor, re-examined the file. Within the scope of the review, on May 21, detention orders were issued for 26 suspects on charges of intentional killing, destruction, concealment or alteration of evidence, and false testimony.
24 suspects arrested
Following the decision, 24 suspects, including the then District Police Chief İ.Y., partners of the construction company M.M.T. (69) and his son M.T.T. (43), were arrested. It was reported that efforts to capture the remaining 2 suspects in the file continue.
With the detention of A.K. at the airport, one more of the wanted names in the investigation was caught. The file related to Büyükışık's death continues to progress with accusations reopened years after the initial evaluation and merged cases.
