The recent escalation in the Middle East has pushed prices up in global energy markets. Oil prices surged sharply following increased tensions between Iran and Israel.
US crude oil futures rose by $2.57 to $93.11 per barrel. Brent crude futures also increased by $2.67, reaching $95.76.
Israeli military reports missile detection
The Israeli military announced on Sunday evening that it detected missiles launched from Iran targeting Israeli sites. The statement claimed that air defense systems intercepted these missiles.
This development followed threats of retaliation against an airstrike targeting southern suburbs of Beirut. The mutual statements in the region further heightened tensions.
Stronger response message from Tehran
Mohsen Rezaee, advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said in a post on X that the attacks served as a warning. Rezaee warned that if Israel takes another step, it will face a heavier response.
The commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters also warned that if Tel Aviv responds to Iranian attacks or expands its military operations in Lebanon, devastating attacks will be launched against Israel and its supporters.
The tension was felt not only on the military front but also in energy markets. The rise in oil prices drew attention during a period when investors are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East.
