Speaking at the 27th Business World Summit organized by the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TÜRKONFED) in Elazığ, Ömer Koç assessed Israel’s attacks on Gaza and the West’s approach to the region.
Koç argued that the unconditional support provided to Israel by the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union had contributed to the severe humanitarian situation in Gaza. Criticizing the West’s stance, Koç said this approach had made possible “this brutal genocide, which is a disgrace to the West.”
Stating that Europe had lost its moral credibility, Koç said, “Unfortunately, Europe no longer has the slightest moral credibility.” Koç said this approach would not remain limited to the region and could produce serious consequences affecting the entire world.
Emphasis on technology for economic resilience
Stating that economic resilience must be strengthened during a period of global uncertainty, Koç said this could not be achieved solely by increasing production capacity.
Koç said it was essential to establish an economic structure that develops technology, creates designs and owns intellectual property.
Democracy and the rule of law
Stating that the prerequisite for lasting stability was an order governed by democracy that functions fully through its institutions and rules, as well as by the rule of law, Koç emphasized that these elements were important for the sustainability of economic development.
