The approach towards an agreement aiming to reopen the Strait of Hormuz between the US and Iran created volatility in the precious metals markets. Ounce gold rose by 1.6% to reach 4580 dollars with this development. It was reported that negotiations on the agreement text continue and that the parties' final approval may take a few days. Former US President Trump announced via social media that he would not rush the agreement.
Global X ETFs analyst Justin Lin stated that concrete evidence of cooperation needs to be seen in pricing, while noting that precious metal prices have fallen by 13% since conflicts began in February. It was also expressed that the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) interest rate hikes negatively affected ounce gold.
Gram gold prices also increased in domestic markets. With a daily increase of 1.39%, gram gold rose to 6730.29 lira. The buying price of gram gold was recorded as 6713.89 lira, and the selling price as 6746.68 lira. The annual increase rate of gram gold was 59.27%. Markets are following the interest rate decisions at the Fed meeting to be held in December.
Within the scope of US-Iran negotiations, a draft memorandum including provisions such as keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for transit for 60 days and clearing mines is on the agenda. However, the details of the agreement and the final approval process continue.
