Canada has made a significant regulation in the field of digital broadcasting. Large digital streaming platforms with annual revenues exceeding 25 million Canadian dollars will be required to allocate 15% of their revenues in Canada to local and Indigenous productions. This decision aims to encourage platforms to provide more support to Canadian culture and local productions. Previously, this rate was set at 5%. The new regulation covers major platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video, aiming to promote local content production. As a result, the visibility of Canadian-made content on digital platforms is expected to increase.
