In the latest poll published before the June 7 elections in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract Party established a strong lead. According to the Breavis poll, the party can secure the support of about 65% of voters excluding the undecided. In the study conducted with 1,551 people between May 5-11, it was observed that none of the opposition parties surpassed the 12% threshold. The results clearly put Pashinyan's party ahead in the election race. During the same period, it was reported that Russia reacted to Armenia's steps towards closer ties with the European Union and called its ambassador in Yerevan back to Moscow for consultations. The report also mentioned that Moscow imposed trade restrictions. The election results are closely watched in terms of Armenia's political orientation. Whether the vote will signal a new era in the country's foreign policy line will become clear after June 7.
