The Pavli Fair, one of Thrace's most deep-rooted traditions, is being set up for the 116th time this year in Kırklareli's Pehlivanköy district. Pehlivanköy Mayor Gündüz Hoşgör stated that the centuries-old fair is a living cultural heritage.
Hoşgör said that preparations are rigorously continuing throughout the district, adding, "We work with the same excitement every year to carry the centuries-old tradition into the future."
Fair strengthens regional economy
The mayor stressed that the Pavli Fair appeals not only to Pehlivanköy but to all of Thrace. "Our fair is a meeting point for visitors from all corners of Turkey. Here, while keeping a centuries-old culture alive, we also make a significant contribution to the economy of our local producers and shopkeepers," said Hoşgör, inviting all citizens to the fair.
Local products and entertainment come together
The fair, set up along the Ergene River, features stalls, open-air restaurants, and an amusement park. Residents sell regional foods and clothing they have prepared throughout the year.
Locals, who stay in tractor trailers, maintain their traditional lifestyle throughout the fair. Roma citizens, meanwhile, add to the festive atmosphere with their distinctive music and dances.
