A traffic accident in the Seyran neighborhood of Bursa last evening saw a car hit the concrete barriers on the Bayramdere overpass. The crash killed the driver and two other people, while a child and a woman in the car were critically injured.
The car, a 07 NM 933 license plate vehicle driven by 26-year-old Begüm Şevval Usta, veered out of control after the driver lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into the concrete barriers. The impact completely wrecked the vehicle, and all five occupants were trapped inside. Passersby alerted the authorities, and gendarmerie and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters cut open the car to free the injured.
A doctor working as a pediatric emergency physician at a hospital in Antalya, who was passing by at the time of the crash, stopped and administered first aid to the victims. The 12-year-old identified as Ş. A., whose heart had stopped, was revived by the doctor's intervention. Once paramedics arrived, the injured were transferred to ambulances.
Driver Begüm Şevval Usta, along with passengers Nureddin Acar (73) and Müzeyyen Acar (74), died at the scene. Ş. A. (12) and Filiz Usta (51), who were seriously injured, were taken to hospital for treatment. The injured remain in critical condition, and an investigation into the accident has been launched.
