Presidency Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, in a social media post for World Refugee Day, described the events in Gaza as one of the harshest examples of forced migration and humanitarian suffering.
In his post, Duran touched upon the fact that millions of people are forced to leave the lands where they were born and raised due to wars, conflicts, and oppression.
The Presidency Communications Director focused on the tragic situation of Palestinians in Gaza. He referred to Israel's war of mass destruction, which has been ongoing for over two years and carried out in various forms.
Duran stated that the cries of children, women, and civilians in Gaza, who risk losing their homes, loved ones, and most basic rights to life, are a call to the common conscience of humanity.
The Presidency Communications Director emphasized that standing with the oppressed, defending justice, and protecting human dignity is not a choice but a responsibility towards the conscience of humanity. He noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expresses these principles on every occasion.
Duran said, "Turkey, drawing from its history and civilizational values, will continue with its usual determination to raise the voice of the oppressed and maintain its stance based on justice and fairness."
The Presidency Communications Director expressed hope that World Refugee Day would contribute to the international community taking more responsibility, finding lasting solutions, and building a fairer world where no person is forced to leave their homeland.
The United Nations declared June 20th each year as World Refugee Day in December 2000. The purpose of this day is to bring the suffering of refugees to the attention of the international community and to honor those forced to leave their homelands.
