Speaking at the inauguration of the city hospital in Samsun on Sunday, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Türkiye had reached a position in medicine that is held up as an example around the world thanks to its healthcare investments.
Erdoğan said Samsun City Hospital was built on an area of 234,000 square meters and contains 1,027 seismic isolators. He said the hospital has a total capacity of 1,458 beds, including 230 intensive care beds.
The hospital has 40 operating rooms
The city hospital has 40 operating rooms equipped with the latest technology and 320 outpatient clinics. The facility also includes oral and dental health units and a parking lot with a capacity of 2,066 vehicles.
The hospital’s medical equipment includes three magnetic resonance imaging devices, three computed tomography scanners, six ultrasound devices and 34 X-ray machines.
5,419 healthcare workers will serve at the hospital
Erdoğan said 5,419 healthcare workers, including 548 specialist doctors, would serve at the hospital.
Erdoğan said they had established a healthcare system across Türkiye in which citizens receive humane treatment regardless of their income level or profession. He said that while citizens had previously traveled abroad for treatment, hundreds of thousands of foreign patients now choose Türkiye for healthcare each year.
Erdoğan said the transformation in healthcare had accelerated, particularly through investments and city hospitals over the past 24 years.
