About 10 Chinese and Russian military aircraft briefly entered the Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) over South Korea's eastern and southern sea areas.
According to a report by Yonhap news agency citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, the aircraft left the zone without violating South Korean airspace. The Seoul administration scrambled fighter jets as a precautionary measure.
What is KADIZ?
The Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) is an area unilaterally declared by states, with no definition under international law. Military aircraft entering the zone, which does not cover civilian planes, are considered potential threats and may receive warnings.
