A flash flood swept through the town of Madrigueras in Spain’s Albacete province on Friday evening, turning streets into rivers and carrying away cars. About 142 liters of rain per square meter fell in roughly two hours. A 102-year-old woman drowned in her home and around 90 people were rescued.

In the Valencia region, classes were suspended for about 412,000 students as heavy rain hit eastern Spain for a second day, disrupting roads and trains. Spain was devastated by floods in Valencia in October 2024 that killed more than 220 people.
