The General Directorate of Agricultural Reform under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has launched a new system to strengthen digital transformation in the fight against agricultural drought.
The platform called TAKİS (Agricultural Drought Monitoring System) will bring together meteorological data, indicators related to water resources, and phenological observations on a single platform.
The system aims to effectively monitor, analyze, and assess risks of agricultural drought at provincial and district levels. It will also support climate change adaptation efforts, enabling early detection of drought risks so that necessary measures can be taken in a timely manner.
Field observations go digital
With TAKİS, phenological observations and field assessments on drought conducted by provincial and district agriculture directorates will be recorded digitally. Data entry, verification, and approval processes will be carried out electronically.
This will allow real-time monitoring of up-to-date data on agricultural drought nationwide and effective risk assessment. It also aims to provide decision-makers with a fast, reliable, and holistic data flow.
Training provided for 2,100 personnel
Online training programs were held on July 27-28 to ensure effective nationwide use of the system. Approximately 2,100 technical personnel from 81 provinces and 922 districts participated.
