Taxi driver faced a fine of 141,500 lira and arrest
An investigation was launched against a taxi driver who carried an American broadcaster in Istanbul. The driver was fined 141,500 lira, his vehicle was impounded, and he was arrested.
After the event held yesterday at an entertainment venue on Tersane Street in Karaköy with the participation of Travis Scott, the American social media broadcaster Auger, who took a taxi to the hotel where he would stay in Taksim, streamed his journey live. The footage shows moments when Auger agreed on the price with the taxi driver before getting in the vehicle. After getting off, he noticed that more money was charged from his card. Following the broadcaster's claim that 136 dollars were charged, the Istanbul Police Department Traffic Inspection Branch started an investigation. 141,500 LIRA FINEThe taxi driver who took broadcaster Auger from Tersane Street to the hotel in Gümüşsuyu Neighborhood was identified as H. A. H. A. was caught with the taxi he was driving and legal action was taken against him. The taxi driver was fined a total of 141,500 lira under the articles of the Highways Traffic Law regarding 'not using a taximeter in cars providing taxi service,' 'not obeying local signs,' and 'not wearing a seatbelt.' ARRESTEDThe taxi driver's card was canceled and his vehicle was impounded. H. A. was referred to the courthouse on charges of 'Fraud.' The suspect was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
