American pop megastar Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce got married in a lavish ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The couple's wedding was officiated by their friend, actor and comedian Adam Sandler. Swift's publicist Tree Paine announced on Friday that instead of a maid of honour and best man, the couple chose Swift's brother Austin Swift as 'man of honour' and Kelce's older brother and podcast co-host Jason Kelce as best man.
After the ceremony, a sign outside the Midtown Manhattan arena read 'JUST&T MARRIED,' ending months of secrecy.
The bride and groom's attire was by Christian Dior Haute Couture and designer Jonathan Anderson, while the shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin. Swift wore Cartier jewelry.
Outside Madison Square Garden, thousands of fans known as 'Swifties' gathered in the scorching heat to catch a glimpse of the wedding. Although the event was kept almost entirely secret, fans sent their well-wishes to the couple.
Lori Powers, speaking to the Associated Press, said Swift's music was the soundtrack to many special moments in her life, adding, 'Relationships, friends, my spouse and children... Her songs are in the background of all of them.' Lynn Mahoney, speaking to Reuters, said, 'I wish them a lifetime of happiness. I can't wait for them to have children. I'm excited to see the wedding photos and everyone who is here tonight.'
Celebrity guests
The wedding was attended by luminaries from the sports and Hollywood worlds. Guests arriving in black SUVs included Bradley Cooper, Zoe Kravitz, Hugh Grant and Ethan Hawke, as well as models Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss, comedian Chris Rock, director Steven Spielberg, singer Camila Cabello and author Jenny Han.
Kelce's coach Andy Reid, teammate Kareem Hunt and retired NFL star Tom Brady were also in attendance.
The wedding, held at the venue that has hosted iconic sports and entertainment performances for decades, was conducted in great secrecy. No social media posts leaked from the hall; phones were reportedly banned.
According to the New York Post, the couple also got married in a private ceremony before the celebrations at Madison Square Garden.
