Tottenham officially completed the transfer of Dutch international centre-back Yan Paul van Heek. The English club announced that a long-term deal has been signed with the player from Brighton.
The 26-year-old defender moved to Brighton from Dutch side NAC Breda in 2020. Van Heek broke into the first team two years after joining the English side.
The Dutch footballer made a total of 131 appearances for Brighton. Last season, he started 36 of the 38 Premier League matches he played.
Brighton finished eighth in the league last season, earning a spot in European competitions. Van Heek stood out as a key part of that performance.
The Dutch player is currently with his national team at the 2026 World Cup. Van Heek is in the same squad as Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, who played in the opening match against Japan.
This transfer was Tottenham's third move of the summer window. The London club had previously secured deals for Scottish left-back Andy Robertson and Argentine centre-back Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth.
