US President Donald Trump announced he canceled a planned attack on Iran. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said that Iran and other Middle Eastern countries had requested time to complete an agreement that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end Iran's nuclear threat.
Trump said, "Upon this request, I agreed to cancel the attack for the sake of the world's future and for Iran to remain successful and prosperous, but on the condition that a swift agreement is reached."
The US President also stressed that his country is "ready to act at any moment." Trump said that Israel also supported the decision to suspend the attacks, and that the decision remained contingent on "reaching a swift agreement."
Last Friday, Trump had stated that they would strike Iran with "blows so hard they cannot withstand," and claimed that the war with Iran was "going very well" for the US.
Until last July, the US and Iran had exchanged military attacks over a 13-day period. While Washington struck targets inside Iran, Tehran targeted American military facilities in Arab countries including Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
