It has emerged that U.S. President Donald Trump's meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara has been placed at the very end of the American leader's schedule.
Trump will arrive in Turkey on Tuesday and participate in a series of events on the same day as part of the summit, which is being held July 7-8.
The busiest day for the U.S. President will be Wednesday. Trump's working program will begin at 8:00 a.m. local time.
However, the meeting with Zelensky will only come at the end of the day. After that meeting, Trump's schedule only includes a meeting with Syrian transitional president Ahmed al-Sharaa. Trump will then hold a press conference and depart Turkey.
The White House had earlier confirmed that Trump would meet Zelensky on July 8 on the margins of the NATO summit. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. and last one hour.
According to Reuters, the American leader plans to hold a meeting with Vladimir Putin after his meeting with Zelensky.
On Sunday night, Putin and Trump held a one-and-a-half-hour telephone conversation at the initiative of the U.S. side. The call addressed the situation in the conflict zone in Ukraine and the U.S. mediation role.
This was the fourth conversation between the leaders since the beginning of the year. The two leaders agreed to speak by phone again soon.
