Netsia BB Suite, developed by the engineering teams of Turk Telekom and its group company Argela, has begun to be used in one million households within the fiber internet infrastructure.
The software, actively used in fiber network operations conducted across all 81 provinces, is presented as the world's largest application of open-source broadband access technologies.
Netsia BB Suite operates on a cloud-based and vendor-independent architecture that allows devices from different manufacturers to be managed through a single software platform. This structure enables faster deployment of new services, more agile response to faults, and easier network scalability.
Turk Telekom CEO Ebubekir Şahin stated that reaching one million households is not just a numerical achievement. He emphasized that this demonstrates Turkey's ability to develop standards in telecommunications, produce technologies compliant with these standards, and transform this into global competitive power.
Şahin also noted that investments will continue in line with the vision of developing national technologies, and they will keep working towards a Turkey less dependent on external resources.
Turk Telekom was the first operator worldwide to commercially use this technology on a live fiber network in 2021. Developed as an open-source solution under the Linux Foundation Broadband ecosystem, the software has since become a key component both in expanding new fiber lines and modernizing existing infrastructure.
Alongside its R&D investments in 5G, the company's efforts contributed to it becoming Turkey's top patent applicant in 2024 and 2025. Turk Telekom, Argela, and Netsia hold over 70 international patents together.
The success of Netsia BB Suite has also been recognized internationally. At the NetworkX Awards 2025, the solution won first place in the "Outstanding Innovation in Multi-Gigabit Fiber Access" category.
Turk Telekom aims to further expand the software's usage and bring the product to international markets.
