Foreign ministers from Turkey and seven other countries strongly condemned the escalating settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The statement specifically mentioned recent attacks on the Great Mosque in the village of Jiljilya north of Ramallah and the Al-Farouk Mosque in the village of Mezra en-Nubani.
The ministers noted the clear violation of the sanctity of places of worship and holy sites. They emphasized that these attacks contravene international humanitarian law and other relevant international legal frameworks, including United Nations resolutions.
The statement also firmly rejected the attacks carried out by Israelis who have seized the occupied Palestinian territories. The ministers said these actions fuel instability, violence, and extremism in the West Bank.
It was noted that Israel’s ongoing illegal measures in the occupied Palestinian territories undermine international efforts toward peace. The ministers highlighted that this process further escalates tensions in the region.
The statement also held Israel, as the occupying power, responsible for the attacks. Through this, Turkey and the seven countries presented a unified political stance regarding developments in the West Bank.
