Salam Association for Relief and Development, with funding from the Turkish Diyanet Foundation, began distributing 5,000 hygiene kits on Wednesday to displaced and affected families in the Gaza Strip.
Association Director Yakub Suleyman told Anadolu Agency that on the first day of the project, 2,500 hygiene kits were delivered to widowed, impoverished, and affected families living in displacement camps in Gaza and North Gaza governorates.
Suleyman stated that the distribution would be completed on Thursday with another 2,500 kits, aiming to reach the most vulnerable groups.
The kits contain basic personal and household cleaning items such as toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and laundry detergent. Suleyman noted that access to these products has become a major challenge for families due to the humanitarian crisis and shortage of essential supplies.
Emphasizing that the project aims to improve the health and living conditions of displaced families and help meet their daily needs, Suleyman thanked the Turkish Diyanet Foundation and the Turkish people for their continued support of humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the vast majority of people in the Gaza Strip, which has a population of about 2.1 million, remain displaced and lack basic services and minimum living conditions. The UN had previously warned that water scarcity forces many families to choose every day between drinking water and personal hygiene and disease prevention.
Israel, with US support, launched a genocidal war on Gaza on October 8, 2023. Over two years of attacks, approximately 73,000 Palestinians were killed and more than 173,000 injured. Most of the dead were children and women, and 90 percent of the infrastructure was destroyed.
The Turkish Diyanet Foundation continues its humanitarian projects in Gaza. Last January, the foundation announced that millions of Palestinians had received food, health, and shelter aid since October 2023.
