Turkey's ambassador to Damascus Nuh Yılmaz met with two separate Syrian ministers in the Syrian capital Damascus to discuss reconstruction and institutional cooperation.
According to Anadolu Agency, Ambassador Yılmaz first met with Syrian Minister of Public Works and Housing Mustafa Abdürrezzak. The meeting discussed cooperation opportunities in the field of reconstruction, building safe and livable cities, and meeting housing needs.
During the meeting, Yılmaz highlighted Turkey's experience in the contracting and construction sectors. He emphasized that Turkey is ready to provide support regarding the legal infrastructure, legislation, and practical experience related to reconstruction processes.
Syrian Minister of Public Works and Housing Abdürrezzak, on the other hand, pointed to the brotherly relations between the two countries. He stated that Turkey's reconstruction efforts following the earthquake that struck some of its provinces in 2023 could constitute an important experience and a model to be emulated for Syria.
Ambassador Yılmaz's second stop was Syrian Minister of Administrative Development Muhammad Hasan Skaff. In a statement there, Yılmaz expressed that Turkey supports taking practical steps to strengthen cooperation at various levels between Ankara and Damascus.
Yılmaz noted that Turkey is ready to contribute to all initiatives aimed at developing cooperation between the two countries, to which Minister Skaff responded by expressing his hope that the historical and friendly relations between the two countries would be reflected in areas of institutional cooperation.
