Turkey’s Embassy in Moscow hosted a reception to mark the 104th anniversary of 30 August Victory Day. Military attachés serving at foreign embassies attended the event at the embassy residence.

The program, hosted by Turkey’s Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgiç, began with a minute of silence. The Turkish and Russian national anthems were performed at the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Bilgiç said that the Turkish nation had achieved victory in the War of Independence under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on 30 August 1922, and that this victory paved the way for the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.
“For us, 30 August symbolizes not only a military victory but also an unwavering commitment to independence and sovereignty.”
Bilgiç said the support provided by Soviet Russia during the War of Independence had opened an important chapter in the historic relations between Türkiye and Russia.
Bilgiç noted that Türkiye and Russia continue to maintain multifaceted cooperation in various fields, particularly diplomacy, trade, energy, tourism and culture, adding that dialogue and interaction are fundamental elements of relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Bilgiç offered his condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives after a passenger ship capsized off Girne Port in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
A message issued by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of 30 August Victory Day was also read at the reception. Guests were served dishes from Turkish cuisine.
