Warships belonging to the Russian Navy and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy completed the “Maritime Interaction-2026” joint military exercise and began conducting joint patrols in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to a statement issued by the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service on Tuesday, July 14, the closing ceremony of the exercise was held at the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s naval base in Qingdao.
At the ceremony, the Russian side’s commander, Rear Admiral Sergey Sinko, and the Chinese side’s commander, Rear Admiral Qiu Wensheng, each delivered a speech. Rear Admiral Sinko said the experience gained would be in demand during the two countries’ future maritime activities and would make an important contribution to strengthening mutual trust and Russia-China cooperation.
The ministry said that immediately after the closing ceremony, several ships sailed into the Yellow Sea, where they formed a joint Russian-Chinese fleet. The fleet then began patrolling waters in the Asia-Pacific region.
