Playing in the FIVB Nations League quarterfinals for the first time in its history, Turkey's National Men's Volleyball Team lost 3-0 to Slovenia and bowed out of the tournament.
After losing the first set 25-21, the national team showed great resilience in the second set. Led by effective play from Efe Bayram, Murat Yenipazar and Adis Lagumdzija, Turkey took a 23-22 lead in the closing stages but failed to convert as many as nine set points. The set ended 35-33 in Slovenia's favor. During the set, a controversial moment went to video review, but Bosnian head referee Sinisa Ovuka awarded the point to Slovenia.
The third set also witnessed a similar struggle. With contributions from Ahmet Tümer and Mirza Lagumdzija, the Crescent-Stars leveled at 20-20, and despite having 11 set point opportunities, they lost the set 39-37 and the match 3-0. With this result, Slovenia advanced to the semifinals.
While the national team's quarterfinal achievement in the tournament went down in history, Slovenia secured a spot in the last four.
