Statements from Players and Santarelli
Speaking to an AA reporter after the match, Hande Baladın said, "Canada is a strong team. These kinds of matches are always tough. We had a few too many simple errors in the first set, and we were aware of that. We wanted to reduce our errors and use our middle blockers more effectively, and we succeeded."
National middle blocker Sinead Jack Kısal also commented, "Canada is a strong team, but our unity on the court today helped us win. The next match will also be tough, but we will give it our all."
Head coach Daniele Santarelli emphasized the importance of reaching the semifinals, saying, "This summer I said, 'I want more now.' I expected more from my players. I saw that their attitude was very good; they are smiling, working hard, and staying positive. Tactically, we really did a very good job."
Canada Coach Guidetti's Comments on Turkey
Canada's head coach Giovanni Guidetti expressed pride in his players, saying, "I congratulate Turkey; they have great experience in these kinds of matches. We kept our game at a very good level until the third set. Then Vargas stepped in with her serves and attacks, and we couldn't stop her."
On Turkey's chances in the tournament, Guidetti commented, "I think Turkey has a high chance of winning the tournament. When you have an opposite hitter like Vargas, of course you play to win everything. Vargas is in great form, so I believe Turkey can win the tournament."
6th Semifinal Appearance
Turkey reached the semifinals for the 6th time in the VNL, which has been held since 2018, and for the 8th consecutive time in the final phase. In the tournament hosted by China, the Crescent-Stars' semifinal opponent will be the winner of the USA-China match. The semifinal will be played on Saturday, July 25.
