The Yetim Foundation provided school supplies to 800 orphaned students in Iraq shortly before the start of the new school year.
The aid campaign, carried out in coordination with the Turkmen Development and Humanitarian Aid Association, took place in the capital Baghdad and in Kirkuk. The distributed kits included the stationery items students would need throughout the school year.
Delivered to students in Baghdad and Kirkuk
Foundation Chairman Murad Yılmaz said that 250 of the 800 students were in Baghdad and 550 were in Kirkuk. Yılmaz said the initiative aimed to help children prepare for the new school year and share in the excitement of its beginning.
Yılmaz said education was as important to children as air, water and bread, adding that the stationery kits contained most of the supplies students would use throughout the year.
Financial support for orphaned families
In addition to providing school supplies, the Yetim Foundation also offers financial support to the families of orphaned children in need in Iraq.
Susen Abdulvahid Cudu, a member of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, and Enes al-Wendavi, chairman of the Turkmen Development and Humanitarian Aid Association, expressed their thanks for the foundation's contributions.
