Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that Azerbaijan and Türkiye are coordinating on new projects extending into the coming decades. Bayramov made the remarks at a joint news conference held after his meeting with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Baku.
Bayramov said cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye was expanding with the addition of new areas. He said the two countries were coordinating on new, high-potential projects with a long-term outlook.
Green energy projects on the agenda
Projects in the alternative energy sector occupy an important place on the agenda of the two countries. The sides are considering transporting green energy produced in Azerbaijan to Europe through the Black Sea, with Türkiye taking part in the project.
Plans also include laying a new energy cable along the Baku–Tbilisi–Türkiye–Bulgaria route. Work is also underway on a new energy cable project that would connect Nakhchivan with Türkiye.
Bayramov said that once these projects are implemented, alternative energy could reach not only the Azerbaijani and Turkish markets through Türkiye, but also the European market.
Organization of Turkic States and COP31 preparations
Bayramov said he had held extensive talks with Hakan Fidan ahead of the Organization of Turkic States summit, which will be held in Türkiye next month. He said the organization was particularly important for Azerbaijan and Türkiye, stressing the importance of strengthening solidarity among member states and improving coordination.
The Azerbaijani foreign minister said they fully supported Türkiye's successful hosting of the COP31 climate summit. He added that the Azerbaijani delegation, which worked under Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency and later continued its climate diplomacy activities, would participate actively in COP31.

Work continues on the Zangezur Corridor
Bayramov said Azerbaijan attached particular importance to the Zangezur Corridor as a new route of the Middle Corridor that would connect Azerbaijan with Türkiye and, through Türkiye, Europe with Central Asia and Asia.
Bayramov said construction of new transport infrastructure in Azerbaijan's main territory was progressing rapidly. He said approximately 95 percent of the roadwork extending toward the Armenian border and approximately 75 percent of the railway work had been completed. Both projects are planned to be completed in the first half of 2027.
Bayramov said the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has an approximately 190-kilometer railway connection and announced that work had begun to restore the line, which dates back to the Soviet period and has been largely unused for more than 30 years.
Bayramov said the approximately 42-kilometer section of the Zangezur Corridor passing through Armenian territory was the missing link in the route. He said talks on this section were being held between the United States and Armenia, adding that completion of the project would establish a direct connection between Azerbaijan's main territory and Nakhchivan through Armenia.
Completion of the corridor is expected to provide access to Türkiye through Nakhchivan and strengthen connections between Europe and Central Asia. Bayramov said it would create a new transport route extending from Europe to Central Asia through Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
Goal of trilateral cooperation in Africa
Bayramov said Azerbaijan had identified the development of relations with African countries as one of its priority areas, adding that the number of trade and economic missions to the continent and the number of projects being carried out had increased.
Bayramov said Türkiye was one of the countries with an extensive diplomatic and economic network in Africa, adding that trilateral projects could be carried out between Azerbaijan, Türkiye and an African country.
