Türkiye and Iraq are preparing to sign a 12-month agreement in the coming days that will ensure the uninterrupted transportation of crude oil to the Ceyhan Port.
During his visit to Baghdad, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar emphasized that oil shipments to Ceyhan via the Iraq-Türkiye oil pipeline will continue uninterrupted.
Minister Bayraktar stated that he had a productive meeting with Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Muhammed Hudeyr, and that they discussed the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the oil and natural gas sectors.
In a post on his social media account, he said, 'We evaluated areas of cooperation we can develop in the oil and gas sectors, focusing particularly on the Iraq-Türkiye oil pipeline.'
Bayraktar noted that the effective use of existing infrastructure and its development with new connections form the basis of the two countries' shared energy vision.
The Minister stated that Türkiye aims to transform the 'Development Road' project from merely a trade and transportation corridor into a regional energy route, and that Ankara attaches great importance to close cooperation and coordination with Iraq's new government.
He added that they believe concrete steps will elevate the bilateral partnership to a higher level.
