During the speakership election, candidates were given the opportunity to address the lawmakers, and Nur spoke to the members of parliament. He said he wanted to use his diplomatic knowledge, drawing on his experience in previous positions, to bring the Somali Parliament up to global standards.
Nur said lawmakers were the backbone of democracy and stated that the necessary work, particularly on the parliament building, would be carried out quickly.
