Zafer Sırakaya, chair of the Türkiye-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and an Istanbul deputy for the AK Party, visited St. Johannes Church, affiliated with the Antakya Syriac Orthodox Church, in Delmenhorst in Germany's Lower Saxony state.
The Consulate General of Türkiye in Hannover said Sırakaya met with Metropolitan Dr. Hanna Aydın and representatives of the Syriac Orthodox community during the visit. Consul General of Türkiye in Hannover Yusuf Arıkan also attended the meeting.

A large community gathering
Photographs show numerous community members attending the gathering, hosted by the church administration in a large hall. Metropolitan Aydın was also among the guests as Sırakaya addressed the gathering.

Delmenhorst, which borders Bremen, is home to a large Syriac community. A significant proportion of Syriacs in Germany trace their roots to the Tur Abdin region in southeastern Türkiye.
