Türkiye’s Capital Markets Board granted Istanbul prosecutors permission to investigate former minister and ex-AK Party deputy chair Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya on suspicion of violating capital markets law. The couple allegedly invested about 163 million liras in Özata Denizcilik shares and earned roughly 2.2 billion liras from their sale. They are expected to give statements on Wednesday.

Their assets had been frozen, and on Oct. 5 they returned gains beyond the principal to the TMSF. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Wednesday that “whatever is necessary” would be done.
