Türkiye’s honey production is expected to reach 97,000–100,000 tons in 2026. The final production figure will become clear after the pine honey harvest is completed.
Harvest completed in many regions
Honey harvesting has largely been completed in different parts of Türkiye, while the extraction season continues in pine honey production centers. Although the production season has unfolded under different conditions depending on the region, rainfall and the development of flora boosted production in some areas.
Some regions experienced yield losses because of weather conditions. Türkiye has approximately 9 million beehives.
Beekeepers expect a fair return for their work
Beekeepers’ most important expectation is for honey to receive its true market value. Production involves more than work during the harvest period; colony care, feeding, combating diseases and pests, accommodation, transportation and labor are also among the major cost items in the production process.
Rising costs underscore the need to ensure that beekeepers’ honey is not priced below its true value. Keeping beekeepers in production and ensuring they receive a fair return for their work are among the sector’s priorities.
Increase in beekeeping support
Under the 2026 beekeeping support regulations, the basic support for union-member beekeepers was increased to 250 lira per hive. When additional criteria are met, the total support amount rises to as much as 475 lira per hive.
The increase in support aims to strengthen organized production and increase the value of Turkish honey.
