Türkiye exported 68,737 tons of cherries and generated $235 million in foreign-exchange revenue during the January 1–August 10, 2026 period. Compared with the same period last year, export volume rose approximately elevenfold, while export revenue increased fourfold.
In a statement, the Aegean Exporters’ Associations said that 6,040 tons of cherries were exported for $47.728 million in revenue during the same period of 2025.
Recovery after frost damage
Cengiz Balık, chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, said Türkiye ranked first in the world in cherry production and was among the top three or four countries in exports.
Balık said frost during the flowering period in 2025 adversely affected cherry production and led to a sharp decline in exports. He added that exports achieved a strong recovery in 2026.
Balık noted that more than 68,000 tons of cherries had been exported during the period that has elapsed in 2026, generating $235 million in revenue, with an approximately elevenfold increase in volume and a fourfold rise in export value.
Export market expands to 52 countries
Market diversification in cherry exports also increased. Exports, which reached 34 countries in 2025, expanded to 52 countries in 2026.
By country, cherry exports amounted to $74 million to Germany, $67.5 million to the Russian Federation, $29 million to Poland and $26.5 million to Iraq.
Balık announced that, provided there are no adverse developments in climatic conditions, they aim to increase Türkiye’s cherry exports to $250 million in 2027.
