Türkiye's Embassy in Madrid announced that it had postponed the Republic Day reception it had planned to hold on the evening of October 29. The embassy said the decision was taken because of the three-day national mourning declared by Spanish authorities following the train crash near Toledo.
In its announcement, the embassy said, "We sincerely share the pain of our close friend and ally Spain and express our solidarity on this difficult day." The embassy reiterated its condolences to the Spanish people and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
Emergency hotlines opened for citizens

The embassy also announced emergency telephone lines for Turkish citizens affected by the crash near Los Yébenes, in Toledo province. The emergency hotline for the Embassy of Madrid is +34 629 476 693, while the emergency hotline for the Consulate General in Barcelona is +34 680 414 283.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also sent messages of condolence to Spain for those who lost their lives in the crash.
