Bucharest hosts Republic Day ceremony before Atatürk bust

Türkiye's Embassy in Bucharest marked the 103rd anniversary of the Republic with a ceremony held before the Atatürk bust in Bucharest, attended by Turkish citizens and members of the Turkish community living in Romania.

Türkiye's Embassy in Bucharest held a ceremony before the Atatürk bust in Bucharest to mark Republic Day on October 29. Turkish citizens and members of the Turkish community attended the ceremony in front of the bust at Piața Odeon on Calea Victoriei.

The embassy said, "Today, we celebrated the spirit of the Republic at the Bucharest Atatürk Bust with the participation of our citizens and members of the Turkish community." Wreaths were laid at the bust during the ceremony, which was held in the rain.

The embassy had announced the ceremony days in advance and invited all Turkish citizens in Romania to attend the event, which began at 10:30 a.m.

Romania is home to a long-established Turkish community

Romania is home to a long-established Turkish and Tatar community, most of which lives in the Dobruja region, particularly in Constanța. The Turkish minority is represented in the Romanian Parliament by one lawmaker.
