President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told the 77th International Astronautical Congress in Antalya that production, assembly and integration of Türkiye’s roughly 3.5-ton lunar spacecraft had been completed and system-level environmental tests were under way. “That our lunar spacecraft has a domestic content rate of over 80% is a great source of pride for us,” he said.

Speaking to Anadolu at the congress, NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson said: “We now have 76 countries in the Artemis Accords. With that, Türkiye can stand up with us and all the other members of the accords and help build our Moon base.” He added that space had become a national priority for Türkiye under Erdoğan’s leadership. Türkiye signed the Artemis Accords on Aug. 31, 2026, as the 71st country.
