F1 commentator Jolyon Palmer expressed the view that Ferrari will win at least one race this season. Palmer said that Charles Leclerc and Ferrari have a strong chance especially at the Monaco Grand Prix.
While Mercedes was the only team to win a grand prix in the first five races of the season, Ferrari appeared as the second strongest team on the track. The red-blacks are 41 points ahead of third-placed McLaren.
Why does Monaco stand out for Ferrari?
Palmer emphasized that Monaco is a track suitable for Ferrari. Highlighting Leclerc for this race, the commentator stated that his experience in Monaco and being the home driver offer important advantages.
Palmer also noted that Ferrari's car is strong at the start, but the engine side can still be considered a weak point. However, he said that the character of the Monaco track could offer more opportunities to Ferrari.
Ferrari's first race win of the season has been long awaited. The team has not won a grand prix since Carlos Sainz's victory at the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix.
There are other opportunities for Leclerc and Hamilton
Palmer added that Ferrari might not be limited to Monaco only. He evaluated that Zandvoort, Budapest, and in some cases the Canadian track could also be suitable for Ferrari.
Recalling that Leclerc took pole position in Budapest last year, Palmer also pointed out that Lewis Hamilton has a strong history in Hungary. According to him, Ferrari could appear much more competitive on twisty tracks.
Palmer argued that power-focused tracks in the first races of the season were not a good match for Ferrari. He said that the team's race pace could become more visible on twisty stages.
While Monaco stands out as one of the races that could be a turning point for Ferrari's season, attention has turned to the performances of Leclerc and Hamilton.
