Rainfall affecting the Eastern Anatolia and Black Sea regions gave way to snow at higher elevations as temperatures fell. In Erzurum, the upper slopes of the ski resort on Mount Palandöken turned white after the downpour that began yesterday evening; fog was also observed in places at the mountain’s higher points.
In Kars’s Sarıkamış district, intermittent rainfall over the past two days turned to snow during the night. The summit of Sarıkamış Ski Resort, at an altitude of 2,634 metres, as well as the summits of the Allahuekber Mountains, at 3,180 metres, and Mount Ağbaba were covered in snow. In the morning, residents scraped ice from their vehicle windows to clean them. Süleyman Koç, a resident of the district, said, "After the rain last night, snow fell at higher elevations and at our ski facilities. More snow is expected; preparations for winter have now begun."

Ardahan, Ağrı and Black Sea plateaus also covered in white
Snow also fell at higher elevations in Ardahan, covering the high-altitude areas between Ardahan and Artvin in white. In Ağrı, intermittent downpours yesterday turned to snow at higher elevations as temperatures fell overnight, leaving the mountains around the city covered in white.
Higher elevations of Kadırga Plateau in Trabzon’s Tonya district, as well as Sis Mountain and Alaca plateaus in Şalpazarı district, were covered in snow. Residents at Kadırga Plateau fed stray animals that could have difficulty finding food after the sudden snowfall.

Snow and storm hit Düzce together
Kardüz Plateau, at an altitude of 1,830 metres, and Pürenli Plateau, at 1,400 metres, in Düzce’s Gölyaka district were covered in snow, while strong winds affected the city’s Black Sea coastal district of Akçakoca. Wave heights at sea approached 3 metres, with large waves occasionally surging over the breakwaters. Fishermen unable to go out to sea because of the adverse weather secured the ropes of their boats moored in the harbour as a precaution.
