Search continues for 20 missing people
The Turkish vessel Alemdar reached the area and began efforts to locate the 20 missing people. The vessel uses the same technology as the Turkish coast guard vessel Eşin, which conducted a search off Kyrenia the previous day.
There were 267 people aboard the ferry
Erhan Arıklı, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus' minister of public works and transport, had announced that water had begun leaking into the ferry on Sunday. The ferry, which had departed from off Kyrenia for Taşucu Port, was carrying a total of 267 people, including 259 passengers and eight crew members.
Following the ferry's capsizing, Türkiye sent numerous teams to the area to take part in the search and rescue efforts.
