Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday.
Zelenskiy announced the call on his social media account. Stating that Macron is clearly aware of all the details of the current diplomatic perspectives, Zelenskiy said:
In negotiations, it is important that we take every step we take in pressuring Russia and moving toward peace as prepared as possible and in coordination with key partners. Our position is that Europe must be involved in the diplomatic process and that Europe's voice must carry weight.
The Ukrainian leader briefed Macron on the situation on the battlefield and the main threats.
Zelenskiy stressed that Russia is doing everything to continue its missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian territory, cities, and villages. "We discussed our means of resistance, protecting our lives, and the need for additional air defense systems. We very much hope for France's support and decisive steps," he said.
