The child, who was taken to the hospital after the accident, which was captured on security cameras, could not be saved despite all interventions.
Driver arrested
The driver involved in the accident, Fatih Oral, was detained at the scene. After completing procedures at the police station, he was referred to the courthouse and arrested by the court.
His father led the funeral prayer
Alper Yusuf Polat's body was laid to rest after the noon prayer at Kahramankazan Ulu Mosque. His father, Aldulkadir Polat, led the funeral prayer. The ceremony was attended by his family, teachers, and friends.
"He would have experienced the joy of his report card on Friday"
A relative of Alper Yusuf Polat, Ömer Alkan, commented on the incident. Alkan said, "The driver was on his phone or doing something else. He hit the brakes the moment he saw him, but couldn't stop after hitting him. If he had seen him earlier and swerved left, this accident wouldn't have happened."
Alkan stated that the child was going to receive his report card on Friday and dreamed of becoming a police officer or soldier, saying, "He would have experienced the joy of his report card on Friday, but it wasn't meant to be. He wanted to be a police officer or a soldier; he always admired them."
Another relative, Bekir Medet, said that the road where the accident occurred is a deserted and little-used road, and that this neglect may have contributed to the accident.
