A law firm in the UK has won a case for the first time using an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered legal service. According to The Guardian, freelance HR consultant Tamires Camal Taquidir used an application called Garfield AI in her lawsuit to recover an unpaid £7,000 fee.
Taquidir initiated the process by paying £400 to the law firm. The application provided services such as preparing legal documents and tracking the case. The court ruled in Taquidir’s favor.
Garfield AI was authorized last year by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The application offers legal services ranging in cost from £30 to £10,000.
