Japan’s Ambassador to Ankara Tamura visited the TEKNOFEST site at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport. After touring the festival, Tamura commented on Türkiye’s investments and activities in defense technologies.
Tamura said defense technology is of great importance worldwide and that Japan is closely following Türkiye’s steps in this field. Saying that Japan has not hosted an event on the same scale as TEKNOFEST, Tamura described the festival’s scope as impressive.
Tamura said cooperation between Türkiye and Japan would increase and expressed his appreciation for Türkiye’s advances in defense technologies. He described the organization of an event on this scale as both surprising and successful.
Emphasis on cooperation
Tamura said that during a bilateral meeting held in recent days between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the two sides agreed to further deepen defense cooperation between the two countries.

Tamura said TEKNOFEST provides children with education in science, technology and defense, adding that Türkiye places importance on science, technology and education. He said it was important for children to gain knowledge in these fields while having fun.
“The Japanese love Türkiye very much”
Tamura said Türkiye and Japan have maintained friendly relations for many years, noting that more than 80 years had passed since World War II. He said Japan pursued a peaceful policy with Türkiye and that cooperation between the two countries was also important for world peace.
Tamura said Türkiye faced various challenges because of its geographical position and that deepening Türkiye-Japan cooperation would play an important role. “The Japanese love Türkiye very much,” Tamura said, adding that he particularly wanted to emphasize this point.
Ambassador Tamura congratulated those who contributed to the organization of TEKNOFEST.
